System Requirements

Teleparty runs on laptop and desktop computers and Android devices. You can download Teleparty as a browser extension that is available for the Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge & Opera browsers. You can also install Teleparty on your Android device.

Coming soon (but not currently available): iOS smartphones or tablets, smart TVs, gaming consoles and other devices.

All participants need to have access to an account connected to an associated streaming service (Hulu, HBO Max, Disney+, and Netflix) to start or join a Teleparty. It is possible to use a shared account to join a party, but the account needs to be on a standard or premium membership plan which allows multiple viewers to watch the streaming service at the same time.


All participants also need install the Teleparty Chrome extension.

Up to 1000 friends can partcipate in the same Teleparty.


Everyone needs to sign onto Netflix, and needs to install the Teleparty Chrome Extension prior to starting or joining a party.

Teleparty is available in every country Netflix is available in.

If you are creating a Teleparty with participants from multiple countries, you should double-check that the show you want to watch together is available in all of your regional Netflix libraries. You can use this tool to see what shows are available in each country. As a general tip you should consider watching Netflix originals, which are available in all countries.

Installation Guide

If you can see a red "TP" button on the top right corner of your chrome browser, you have successfully installed Teleparty.


Note: if you don't see the "TP" button, on Chrome click located on top right area of your browser to view the hidden browser extensions. If you can't find the "TP" button, try uninstalling and reinstalling the extension on Chrome.

To uninstall, type chrome://extensions into the url, find Teleparty & click Remove


Reinstall Teleparty from the Chrome Web Store


Try starting or joining a party again (by clicking the Tp icon) and you should be able to use Teleparty.

Hosting a Teleparty

Login into your account on an associated streaming service and make sure you are on your main account profile. Select a show and make sure it is playing. Your url should look like “netflix.com/watch/videoID”. Then click on the red TP button to host your TP Teleparty chat room.


You can share the party link you get with friends to invite them to your party.

Make sure you are logged into an associated streaming service and that you are on your main account profile, and you have a show currently on and playing. Your url should look like “netflix.com/watch/ ”. When the app detects a video on your webpage, it will turn red, and you can click on it to turn the video into a Teleparty. If it is still not working, re-install Teleparty and try again.

Joining a Teleparty

Click on the shared link, which redirects you to the selected show. Then click the red TP button located on the top right area on your chrome/edge browser to automatically connect into the party chatroom.

Yes, you need your own unique associated streaming service (Hulu, HBO Max, Disney+, and Netflix) account, to join a Teleparty.

The number of people that can join a single party depends on the current load on Teleparty servers. Hosting up to 50 friends in the same chat room is feasible.

Chat Settings

Choose your user icon from the top right corner of the chatroom interface. The user icon is in a circular shape that automatically generates an initial icon for you.

Change your nickname by selecting the "User Icon". This'll prompt you to the setting interface where you may change and edit your nickname.

Copy and share links by clicking on the chain icon . This icon is located on the top right area of your chat interface.
You can also invite friends by clicking on the TP button (once in a party and the video is playing) and then click the copy button next to the invite link.

Hide or show the chat room by clicking on the Tp button again. The interface will now allow you to show or hide the chat room.

We are aware of this and are currently still working on this. The chat is no longer overlapping the video, but it may overlap the settings on some of the streaming services. If you need to change a setting while in a party, Turn the chat off and then change the settings. Once the settings are to your liking you can turn the chat back on if you like.

Privacy & Security

Teleparty is used by over 10,000,000 users. We use end to end encryption and we do not store your Netflix account details or password.

After everyone leaves your Teleparty, we delete the contents of its chat history off of our servers.

Troubleshooting
